Review: CORIOLANUS at Avant Bard
The historical Coriolanus, if he existed at all, was Rome’s most fearsome fighter, trained as a child, excelling as a warrior-leader and able to conquer whole other cities sometimes single-handedly. Even so, James Finley, who portrays the title character in Shakespeare’s tragedy in an eye-opening co-production by the Avant Bard Theatre with Longacre Lea, may be working even harder.

DC Troupe To Present New Adaptation Of RICHARD II On Capitol Hill Starting March 3
RICHARD II will play one preview performance on March 3, with opening night set for March 4. Scheduled through March 12, the production will perform Thursdays at 7:30, Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

Is it time to hold God (inhabiting the body of Jacob Yeh) to account? God knows – forgive the reference – we have occasion to do so. Even as we hunker, masked, vaccinated and socially distant, within the confines of NextStop Theatre Company, we add more counts to our indictment – a terrible disease, economic disruption, social unrest. And that’s just for us, the richest country in human history! At least we don’t have to worry about religious maniacs entering our homes and shooting us. Yet.

When their material is broadcast on the radio for the first time, their family is upset to hear a thinly-veiled portrait of themselves played for laughs...and they are not alone.
