Bennett Leak Will Be Second Stage Theater's Interim Artistic Director

Second Stage Theater has announced that Bennett Leak, Second Stage Theater's Director of Artistic Production, has been named Interim Artistic Director for the 2024-25 Season.

Hart, of Andersonville, has been training actors of all levels since she began teaching in 2006. She taught for five years at the acclaimed Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, as well as at Loyola University, Notre Dame University Summer Shakespeare, and Act One Conservatory. She has served as text coach for Chicago Shakespeare, Strawdog Theatre and Summer Shakespeare at Notre Dame, and her directing credits include Macbeth at City Lit Theatre and Falstaff's Dream at Notre Dame.

Seattle's Intiman Theater Preps for 2012 Reopening

As BroadwayWorld reported back in April, Seattle's Intiman Theatre closed its doors after suffering crippling financial problems. The theatre, which had been $2.3 million in debt last year, had raised approximately $800,000 over the winter and was attempting to raise an additional $1 million by this September, in two installments. After failing to meet springtime fundraising goals, the theater shuttered, laying off its staff. Just prior, Artistic Director Kate Whorisky parted ways with the Intiman.

Kate Whoriskey Departs Intiman as Artistic Director Due to Theater's Financial Struggles

As BroadwayWorld reported back in February, Seattle's Intiman Theatre has been going though hard times financially for several months. This winter, the organization as it is now calling for the support of the public in order to solve its issues. The theatre, which was $1 million in debt, was attemping to raise $500,000 by April, and a second $500,000 by September. As of November the theatre's debt stood at $2.3 million. Since then, over $800,000 had been raised.
