BIO

Originally from the UK, Kate Rance graduated in ‘Design for Performance’ at Central Saint Martins in London and has worked extensively as a Set Designer for Theatre in both London and New York. She designed the set for the IFP Gotham Awards 4 years running and has also tackled commercial projects for companies such as Nike, Canon, the NFL, Glamour, Teen Vogue, GQ, Allure, Conde Nast and the Discovery Channel.



Kate is also an award-winning Production Designer based in New York City with a diverse portfolio of films that have shown at festivals worldwide including at Cannes, Berlin and Telluride. Her projects have won numerous awards including at SXSW and the LA Film Festival and have been screened in countries as various as China, Russia, India and Australia to name but a few.

Kate has taught or run workshops at various Theatre programs on both sides of the Atlantic and loves to bring her multi-disciplined experience to bear, both in her teaching and in all the diverse projects she undertakes.

BWW Review: AIDA at Axelrod Performing Arts Center Addresses The True Meaning of Love and Sacrifice

Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida is now being performed at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center this June to the delight of its audiences. Aida first opened on Broadway in 2000 and ran for four years. The Broadway production starred Adam Pascal, Heather Headley, and Sherie Rene Scott in the lead roles. The highly acclaimed show was nominated for five Tony Awards, and won four out of five, including Best Original Score. The Aida cast recording also won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

Luis Salgado, who most recently was involved in the developmental lab for the new Gloria Estefan Musical On your Feet, has signed on as director/choreographer of the NYC World Premier of Zuccotti Park. Book and lyrics by Catherine Hurd and music composed by Vatrena King, with musical direction by Joshua Coyne. This new musical about the 'Human Side of Economics' will have 4 performances and close the 2015 Venus/Adonis Festival.
