Review: AN IDEAL HUSBAND at La Boite
An Ideal Husband creates a commentary on the state of politics today whilst still being raucously funny and delightfully Wilde. In short, a theatrical feast.
LASER BEAK MAN by Dead Puppet Society is a Feast for the Senses
Laser Beak Man is back to save the world and I hope he keeps returning and again and again. A feast for the senses, David Morton, Nicholas Paine and Tim Sharp, alongside make by Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music) create a joyous, vibrant world on stage that explodes in technicolour. The work follows the story of Australian artist Tim Sharp's colourful superhero (which Sharp first drew when he was eleven) and a crystal malfunction that bring characters together despite their differences.
STORM BOY at Queensland Theatre
Queensland Theatre's production of Storm Boy is a coming of age story that has a powerful voice in all of its mediums, but none more so that in Tom Holloway's stage adaptation, using the genius puppet-craft (another new word of mine) of David Morton and the Dead Puppet Society.
STORM BOY Comes to MTC
An array of magnificent wildlife puppets by Dead Puppet Society will feature on stage alongside Ellen Bailey (Harrow), John Batchelor (Underbelly: Razor), Tony Briggs (Black is the New White), Emily Burton (Single Asian Female), Drew Wilson (Alice in Wonderland) and newcomer Conor Lowe in Tom Holloway's adaptation of the much-loved Australian classic, Storm Boy, when it opens at Southbank Theatre on Friday 21 June.
Justin Harrison Releases New Dating Advice Book for Big Men
'Confessions of a Fat Player: A Big Man's Guide to Dating Beautiful Women,' a new dating advice book from comedian and Bay Area native Justin Harrison, was released on Valentine's Day.
Part how-to advice and part story-telling, Confessions of a Fat Player is based on Harrison's experience as a big man in the Bay Area and LA dating scenes. Unapologetically self-accepting, Harrison counsels men to embrace their size in order to succeed with women, and gives advice on topics like grooming, clothing, and sex specifically for larger men.
'At one point in my life, I felt worthless, I felt unattractive, and I felt like I was going to die alone. I wrote this book because I wanted guys of all sizes to feel confident in the dating world,' says Harrison.
To promote his new book, Harrison is planning a West Coast comedy tour, which he is funding through an Indiegogo.com fundraising campaign.
'Confessions of a Fat Player' was published by Volossal, and is available in paperback and digital format from iTunes, Amazon, and other major electronic outlets.
