Nominated for four 2015 Tony Awards, On the Town is still going strong at the Lyric Theatre, but performances May 7-12 were canceled so that the theatre could host NYC upfronts for Univision Communications Inc. Performances will resume this afternoon at 2pm, May 13. Welcome back to the ship!
ON THE TOWN Cast Takes a Break as Lyric Theatre Hosts Univision Upfronts
Nominated for four 2015 Tony Awards, On the Town is still going strong at the Lyric Theatre, but this week the cast begins a pre-scheduled week off. BroadwayWorld has learned that performances May 7-12 have been canceled so that the theatre can host NYC upfronts for Univision Communications Inc. Performances will resume on May 13.
LITTLE DANCER's Tiler Peck Joins Broadway's ON THE TOWN Tonight
New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck will step into the role of 'Ivy Smith' in the new Broadway revival of On The Town this March for six performances only, while her fellow New York City Ballet principal dancer, and sister-in law, Megan Fairchild is on vacation. Peck will play the role at the following performances: March 3rd at 7pm, March 4th at 2pm and 8pm, March 14th at 2pm and 8pm, and March 15th at 3pm.
Broadway's ON THE TOWN Releases Two-Disc Cast Album Today
The new Broadway revival of On The Town was recorded in November 2014 for a two-disc cast album to be released by PS Classics. On The Town, which features a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, music by Leonard Bernstein, and is based on an idea by Jerome Robbins, is currently running at Broadway's Lyric Theatre (213 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The album is out today, March 3, at www.PSClassics.com.

On Monday, January 13th, 2014 producers Kimberly Loren Eaton and Alan Swanke presented a reading of Wild and Willful Women to a full house at Baruch Performing Arts Center's Engelman Recital Hall, as the kickoff event the 13th Annual TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series. This new musical is a tale of love, lust and witchcraft with book and lyrics by Bill Rogers and music by Daniel Doss. BROADWAY BARES 23: UNITED STRIPS OF AMERICA, a randy road trip of modern-day burlesque featuring 220 of New York's sexiest dancers, raised an all-time record high for the fourth year in a row on Sunday, hitting $1,430,241 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The contestants for the seventh annual Broadway Beauty Pageant included Callan Bergmann (Silence! The Musical), Julius C. Carter (SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark), Yurel Echezarreta (Matilda), Matthew Goodrich (The Nance), Orion Griffiths (Pippin), and Paul HeeSang Miller (Mamma Mia!). Four-time Tony nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning actress Tovah Feldshuh hosted the event which took place on May 20th at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). Orion Griffiths took the crown at the event, which raised more than $50,000 for the Ali Forney Center.
