Abingdon Theatre Company Announces Finalists for VIRTUAL FALL FESTIVAL OF SHORT PLAYS

In this time of change, Abingdon Theatre Company is recommitting to creating opportunities for all voices to be heard. With this in mind, they have announced the finalists of the Virtual Fall Festival of Short Plays! The 2-week festival begins on Monday, October 19th (through October 30) and will shed light on stories by people of color.
Lied Center Ushers Honored as Educational Theatre Association Volunteers of the Year

The Educational Theatre Association's (EdTA) Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes individuals who support the Association through exceptional volunteer efforts. The 2019 recipients are the volunteer ushers at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, for their work during the International Thespian Festival over the past 25 years.

Educational Theatre Association Honors Kansas Representative Jeff Pittman with Legislator Leadership Advocacy Award

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) annually awards the Legislator Leadership Award for Arts Education to a legislator who has demonstrated public leadership in support of theatre and other arts education policy and practice on a national or state level. This year's recipient is Kansas Representative Jeff Pitman.
Educational Theatre Association Approved For NEA Grant; Seeking Applicants

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) has been approved for it's first National Endowment for the Arts grant. Jane Chu, NEA Chairman, has approved more than $25 million in grants as part of the NEA's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018 including an Art Works matching grant of $36,000 to EdTA for the Curriculum Framework Project. EdTA's grant was one of only 68 in the nation approved in Art Works' arts education category.
Educational Theatre Association Honors Hunter Bell and Krista Carson Elhai as Volunteers of the Year

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) has honored two members with the annual Volunteer of the Year award: Hunter Bell, Tony-nominated writer, New York; and Krista Carson Elhai, International Thespian Society Troupe 2129 Director and theatre teacher, Claremont, California. Bell and Elhai also both serve on the EdTA Board of Directors.

Jointly sponsored by the two organizations, TIOS is a program to raise public awareness of the value of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs for all students.
