The 59th Annual Village Voice Obie Awards, celebrating achievement in the Off-Broadway and off-off Broadway theater, were given out at a ceremony last night at Webster Hall in Greenwich Village. The awards ceremony was co-hosted by Tamara Tunie and Hamish Linklater. The awards were presented by Betsy Aidem, Harvey Fierstein, Lena Hall, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Andy Karl, David Bar Katz, Cristin Milioti, Kelli O'Hara, Lily Rabe and Stephen Trask. STANDING UP to Hit Theaters on 8/16; VOD, DVD Release Set for 8/20
ARC Entertainment recently acquired all North American rights to the family film STANDING UP, based on the award-winning young adult novel by Brock Cole, The Goats. Starring Chandler Canterbury (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories) and Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Top Gun), the film was written and directed by D.J. Caruso. The film is set to hit theaters on Aug. 16, will be availabe exclusively at Wal Mart on DVD beginning Aug. 20, as well as VOD.
3D Thriller APARTMENT 1303 Comes to Theaters Today
3D thriller APARTMENT 1303 3D hits theaters today, July 25th. The tense supernatural thriller, written and directed by Michael Taverna, starring Mischa Barton ('The O.C.'), Rebecca De Mornay ('The Hand That Rocks the Cradle'), and Julianne Michelle ('Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'), is based on a novel by Kei Ôishi and is a remake of a Japanese horror title of the same name.
