Broadway Shines to Lend a Helping Hand for Good Morning America Coat Drive
Broadway Shines will appear on 'Good Morning America' on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 during the 8:30 a.m. half-hour as part of GMA's 'Warm Coats & Warm Hearts' Drive. Broadway kids from On Your Feet and past shows including Billy Elliot, Enron, Evita, Mary Poppins and Shrek will be on location in Times Square lending a helping hand. This year, the goal is to donate 400 coats by working with the cast and crew of The Lion King, Matilda, On Your Feet, Beautiful the Carole King Musical, and Kinky Boots.
Magical Music's 5th Annual TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE Benefit Concert Set for 5/1
Magical Music for Life Foundation is thrilled to present its 5th annual TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE benefit concert Sunday, May 1, 2016 on Broadway between 42nd & 43rd Streets in Times Square. The goal of the concert is to raise financial support to produce a new original album of songs for water safety applicable to children with and without specials needs, awareness of our music, and funds to perform our musical written especially for children with autism and other special needs. The event will be a continuous sing-a-thon, where talented children and groups from six states will come together to share the same stage with over 70 Broadway performers from most of the current shows and many past shows. The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, concludes the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series with the first New York revival and world premiere of a new re-imagined version of the 1992 musical, My Favorite Year, with book by Joseph Dougherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and music by Stephen Flaherty, based on the motion picture by Dennis Palumbo and Norman Steinberg. The limited engagement of My Favorite Year will play 5 performances only December 5-7, 2014 at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

The York Theatre Company has announced that Tony Award winning director and lyricist Richard Maltby, Jr. has joined the cast and has assumed the role of MacMillan in the season opener of the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series: Big, with book by John Weidman, lyrics by Mr. Maltby. and music by David Shire. This presentation of Big marks the New York premiere of the script and score created by the authors for the show's national tour-a significantly revised version of the show with eight new Maltby and Shire songs, yet to be recorded. Mr. Maltby replaces Walter Charles who left the production due to an unexpected conflict.

ZOE AND FRIENDS Benefit to Support MORE THAN ME Foundation in Liberia; Concert at Cap 21, 7/21
Javanna Productions M.O.V.E. and Mackensi and Company present ZOE and Friends, a one night event to benefit the MORE THAN ME Foundation. MORE THAN ME operates in Liberia to provide girls in the West Point slum with access to Education. The MORE THAN ME Academy is the first tuition-free, all girls school in Liberia. In addition to education, MORE THAN ME provides young women with two meals a day, access to healthcare, a library and computer lab, and an after school program aimed at keeping girls off the streets.
