BIO

Juliana von Haubrich is a visual artist and scenic designer.

She received her MFA in Scenic Design from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts, `99). While in L.A., Juliana designed sets for theatre and film, and worked in television art departments. In 2000, she earned a "Best of L.A. Scenic Design" nomination from L.A. Weekly for her scenic design of "Ghosts in the Cottonwoods," (by Adam Rapp). She was asked by the Ojai Playwrights Conference to create concept drawings for new plays, and has designed sets for Echo Theatre Company. Juliana has also worked for Paramount Studios and TNT in their art departments.

In 2000, she moved to NYC and designed sets for The Juilliard School, The Acting Company National Tour, and The Present Company (NYC Fringe).

In 2010, Juliana joined a vibrant new company in the Berkshires: WAM Theatre. Since then, she has designed each of their productions and is now an Associate Artist with the company. In the Berkshires, Juliana has designed sets for Shakespeare & Company, Berkshire Theatre Group, Chester Theatre Company, and Dorset Theatre Festival. In 2014, she designed a critically acclaimed set for "The Whale," at the Adirondack Theatre Festival.

In 2019, Juliana designed a new production of "Ann" at the Arena Theatre in Washington DC. The production traveled to Dallas Theatre Center that fall as a co-production between the two companies.

Juliana has also worked with students at Williams College, the Theatre Institute at Russell Sage, SUNY Albany Theatre Department, and Westfield State College. This fall she'll be teaching a class in Scenic Design for MCLA.

Juliana is a member of the United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE.

Originally from Michigan, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Michigan in 1996. She was also the founding Technical Director & Scenic Designer for Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit.
