It's an exciting get, and there are wonderful flashes of Bennett wit, wisdom and stirring empathy, but also polemical outbursts and baggy plotting that leads to a ponderous and not entirely justified run time.

As rehearsals begin, casting is announced for the world premiere of Nicholas Hytner's production of Alan Bennett's Allelujah! at the Bridge Theatre.
Kathy And Steve Miller Honored At Opera Orlando's 3rd Annual Gala!

Opera Orlando will hold its third annual gala celebration-Una Serenata Italiana! (An Italian Serenade!)-in honor of company founders Kathy and Steve Miller on the evening of Friday, April 20. The setting will be the award-winning Alfond Inn at Rollins College in Winter Park, and the evening will include opera performances from a quintet of nationally renowned soloists accompanied by pianist Robin Stamper, special tributes to the honorees, and a silent auction. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by a formal dinner at 7:30 p.m. The Orlando Sentinel's "Taking Names" columnist, Scott Maxwell, will host the gala.

CARMINA BURANA ran from April 12-April 14th at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. It was by far the best theatrical experience bringing together two of Orlando's best. CARMINA BURANA featured Orlando Ballet and the choir and orchestra of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Choreographed by Robert Hill and Conducted by John V. Sinclair, the production featured 150 chorus members, the full company of Orlando Ballet, and more than a 50 person orchestra.
