The Ware Center is thrilled to present the award-winning international children's theater production Egg, an enchanting story of friendship and wonder for children and adults alike, at the Ware Center on February 24, 2016 at 7 p.m. Presented by the professional children's touring theater, Cahoots NI, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, the story of Egg is told completely without words, using physical theatre, illusion, and music to explore the world of 'flying the nest'. The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster invites the community to enjoy local gospel music and art created by Millersville University's Art & Design Department on First Friday, February 5 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. Tickets are required for the 7:30 p.m. show "Gospel Sounds of Lancaster." There is no charge to view the art exhibit on display.
BOTANIC GARDEN Coming to Ware Center

Todd Logan's highly acclaimed and emotionally poignant stage play Botanic Garden will be performed at the Ware Center on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The play, starring real-life married partners Carmen Roman as Kate and James Leaming as her deceased husband Jake, offers a funny and refreshingly unsentimental look at love and loss, questioning our collective belief that "moving on" is the best medicine. Local Gospel Choirs to Perform at Ware Center, 2/5
Local gospel choirs and praise dance teams will showcase Lancaster region's gospel community through song and dance at the Ware Center, Friday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. The evening will include choirs and dance teams from Bright Side Baptist Church in Lancaster, New Covenant Community Church in York, Bethel AME Church in Harrisburg, and Millersville University. This joyful event, focused on the gospel scene in the area surrounding Lancaster, will showcase the wonder of praise and have audiences dancing and singing along all through the night. Nai-Ni Chen to Perform at Winter Center, 1/29
In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the highly popular contemporary dance company Nai-Ni Chen will perform at the Winter Center on Friday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. Known as the 'go-to' resource of Asian American dance, and reaching more than 50,000 audience members a year, the dances of Nai-Ni Chen fuse the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the grace and splendor of Asian art, helping to bridge the gap between cultures. The New York Times calls their performances "endlessly proliferating forces of cosmic energy." The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.
DAR HE: STORY OF EMMETT TILL Coming to Millersville University
Acclaimed actor and playwright Mike Wiley will perform the one-man show "Dar He: Story of Emmett Till", a riveting play based on actual events that chronicles a murder, its trial, and unbelievable confessions, at the Winter Center on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. "Dar He" takes us from Emmett Till's arrival in Mississippi to his murder, and through the trial that let the men responsible for his death walk free. By playing every character in the show, Mike Wiley shows that we are all connected no matter race or gender. According to American Theatre Magazine, the play is "More than mere versatility …it's virtuosity." The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Ave., Millersville.
Operalancaster to Bring AMAHL & THE NIGHT VISITORS to Ware Center
The Three Kings, each with their own wicked personality, tell Amahl to give up what little he has and join them on their venture to see the Christ child. Even though Amahl needs a crutch to walk, he still wants to join the kings in their adventure. As thanks, he gives the kings his crutch, at which point his leg is miraculously healed.
Evita Colon to Bring 'Speak To My Soul: A Montage Of Voices' to Ware Center
Spoken-word artist Evita Colon will voice the stories of her people through the West African tradition of spoken word, song, and dance, showing her people's varying responses to the changing world around them throughout the generations in "Speak to My Soul: A Montage of Voices", for her first appearance at the Ware Center on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. Colon and several other actors will tell 19 stories, including "Mama's Children," "The Crazy Sista," and "Incarcerated Brother." AMERICA'S GOT TALENT Finalist Alice Tan Ridley to Perform at The Ware Center
Alice Tan Ridley, who boldly made herself known to the world during her phenomenal rendition of the Etta James classic, "At Last," on the 5th season of America's Got Talent, will present "Soulful Christmas" in the Ware Center's Atrium on Friday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m. Ridley will set the holiday mood with a selection of holiday favorites such as "Silent Night," "Santa Baby," "hallelujah," and "Away in a Manger," along with songs from her latest album and other favorites such as "Respect" and "I'll Take You There." All tickets include complimentary beverage service which begins at 7 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Small plates are available with this show for an additional $15. Stage Adaptation of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE Set for The Ware Center
Professional actor Jeremy Kendall stars in the hilariously touching one-man tour-de-force THIS WONDERFUL LIFE, a stage adaptation of the iconic holiday film 'It's A Wonderful Life' by Steve Murray, at the Ware Center on Thursday and Friday, December 10-11, at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Directed by Dan Deal, the play brings to life over 32 familiar people in an amazing display of physical and verbal virtuosity. Kendall portrays the Jimmy Stewart-inspired George Bailey and the whole cast of loveable characters from Bedford Falls, including Clarence the Angel, Mary, Zuzu and all of the townsfolk who rely on him to save them from the greedy Mr. Potter. An annual, much-anticipated concert that has brought sold-out crowds to the Winter Center in previous years, these ensembles and soloists will present a musical celebration of the seasonal traditions full of majesty, mystery, and magic to uplift our spirits and usher us into holiday season. Trio Clavino Comes to The Ware Center Tonight
The Lancaster based ensemble and season favorite, Trio Clavino, will draw from a wide repertoire from 18th Century to 21st Century for this unique combination of chamber music in SERENADE OF THREE tonight, November 14, 7:30 p.m., at the Ware Center. A combination of strings (violin/viola), winds (clarinet/bass clarinet), and piano will give people a rich sound of classical music. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.
Millersville University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble to Play at Winter Center
Millersville University's Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will present "Masterworks for the Wind Band" on November 15, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Winter Center, under the direction of Dr. Keith Wiley and Dr. Mark Yingling. Featured works for the Wind Ensemble will include Symphony No. 2 by John Barnes Chance and Second Suite in F by Gustav Holst. Student conductors Charles Richardson and Richard Ferrarelli will share conducting responsibilities for the Holst piece. The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.
Dan Zanes Comes to The Ware Center Today
Grammy award winner Dan Zanes will present “Gusto Hour” today, October 31, 11 am, at the Ware Center located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. From thrift shop basements to Carnegie hall, from Brooklyn to Bahrain and beyond, Zanes has been introducing new songs and reconnecting people to songs that have always been there. Referred to as “the family-music genre's most outspoken and eloquent advocate” by Time Magazine, his widely-acclaimed music has been featured on Sesame Street, Playhouse Disney, Nickelodeon, HBO Family, and Sprout. He occupies a truly unique place in American music where sea shanties, English music hall, North American and West Indian folk music, party songs, the spirit of early rock-and-roll, and soulful originals collide.
