Some of Broadway's leading women producers lunched at the Friars Club today followed by a panel discussion moderated by Friar and Broadway producer Jamie deRoy. Ms. deRoy who happens to be the 8th woman inducted into the Friars (back in the day), guided the discussion of the distinguished Tony Award Winning group which included Susan Gallin (Other People's Money, Angels in America), Robyn Goodman (Avenue Q, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella), Mara Isaacs (Hadestown, McCarter Theater), Nelle Nugent (Latin History for Morons, For Colored Girls), and Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, Indecent).
Sandra Bernhard Kicks Off Carpenter Performing Arts Center's 25th Anniversary Season
Comedian, actress, singer and radio-host Sandra Bernhard returns to the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, on Saturday, September 21 at 8 p.m., launching the start of the Center's 25th Anniversary Season. Single tickets for her new show Quick Sand are on sale now, with a limited number of subscription offers available through September 20.

The Friars archives and Wikipedia have finally been corrected. Nineteen Eighty Eight was a watershed year for women. They gained membership to numerous private men's clubs that heretofore were off limits to women. The Friars, being one of the more famous of the bunch had an article heralding the event written by a less than factual reporter for The New York Times. The paper of record, in an early forerunner of fake news only listed the first 7 women and overlooked number 8...Jamie deRoy who was in that initial group, along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, and other prominent female entertainment figures was not mentioned.

Sheldon Harnick wrote the words for the songs in Fiddler, The Rothchilds, and lyrics for many other historic tunes, but he also wrote the words in a new book of photographs by his wife Margery Gray and son Matt Harnick. The book was launched at a party attended by lots of his Broadway friends at TAO in NYC and Broadwayworld was there. Like his songs, the photographs in KOI are a thing of beauty and create wonderful feelings.

Broadway Producer and three time Tony Award winner Jamie deRoy held her annual Jamie deRoy & friends Tony Award show last night and the Red Carpet was rolled out at Birdland for the star studded event. Jamie's fans and friends had their cell phone cameras at the ready as one by one Jamie introduced her award-winning cast which included, Chuck Cooper (The Life) Penny Fuller (Sunday in the Park with George, Cabaret), Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton, In the Heights), Rupert Holmes (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) with special guest, Patti Cohenour (War Paint, The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Doreen Montalvo (On Your Feet, In the Heights) and Paulo Szot (South Pacific) with Billy Stritch.
2nd Annual U.S. Aerial Championships Set for Baruch Performing Arts Center, 5/13-15
The Not-For-Profit organization U.S. Aerial, Inc. works to raise the profile of aerial arts in America. They will hold the second annual U.S. Aerial Championships on May 13 through 15, 2016 in New York City at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Ave. The on-going annual event presents professional aerial artists on a professional stage and offers them a platform to use as a springboard for their careers.
