Review: WAITING FOR GODOT at Geffen Playhouse
As embodied by Rainn Wilson and Aasif Mandvi in the revival of GODOT at the Geffen Playhouse, Vladimir and Estragon are a formidable pair. Beckett’s play about the unknowable darkness of the human condition has - go figure! - long been catnip for comedians, and you get why Wilson and Mandvi would want a whack at them.

Up next at The Geffen Playhouse Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot opening November 13, 2024 (with previews already begun). Judy Hegarty Lovett directs the cast of: Lincoln Bonilla, Conor Lovett, Aasif Mandvi, Jack McSherry, Adam Stein and Rainn Wilson. Got Aasif to whittle off some answers to my queries.

BWW Review: HOW IT IS (PART 2), The Coronet Theatre
“Leave it vague leave it dark” says Samuel Beckett’s character Pim in How It Is. Now, after two years of delay and Zoom rehearsals, Irish theatre company Gare St Lazare bring Part 2 to the Coronet Theatre accompanied by the Irish Gamelan Orchestra.
BWW Interview: Emmy-Winner Joe Spano Always Returning To His Theatrical Roots
The Laguna Playhouse will be streaming a virtual staged reading of D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, THE GIN GAME February 14 through February 16, 2021. Jenny Sullivan directs this much-produced two-hander with a pair of very juicy acting roles for Joe Spano and JoBeth Williams as two nursing home residents.
The always working Joe (even in these pandemic times) managed to carve out some time to answer a few of my queries.
Gare St Lazare to Return to The Coronet Theatre with HOW IT IS (PART TWO)
Actors Stephen Dillane, Conor Lovett, and award-winning Irish company Gare St Lazare return to The Coronet Theatre with the UK premiere of How It Is (Part Two), the second stand alone part of a three part staging of Beckett's novel, following the success of Part One in 2018 '... you experience moments of pure wonder, when all sense of time and space disappears and you enter a strange, other world, with Beckett whispering cool truths in your ear.' Time Out on How It Is (Part One).
