Studio 180 Theatre has announced its 2020/21 season: five premieres of new Canadian works-in-progress as part of IN DEVELOPMENT and three readings of critically acclaimed, international plays in 180 READS, all of which engage with our mission to produce socially relevant theatre that provokes public discourse and promotes community engagement.
Nightwood Theatre Presents THE LAWYER SHOW CABARET
For the first time in eleven years, Nightwood Theatre was saddened to announce the official cancellation of its annual Lawyer Show production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat due to the global health crisis. However, the cast can return to the stage, Nightwood will keep the spirit of the event alive with our first digital Lawyer Show Cabaret!
BWW Review: TITANIC (THE MUSICAL) at Barn Players
Barn Players production of TITANIC (The Musical) opened this past weekend at the Arts Asylum to full and appreciative audiences. TITANIC is a huge (pardon the play on words) Community Theater undertaking in all ways you might imagine it could be.
TITANIC (The Musical) was written by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone. It won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The BARN PLAYERS production directed by Kipp Simmons is similarly complex but in different ways.

As rehearsals for its tour and West End transfer commence, multi-award winning actress Juliet Stevenson jointly wins the acclaimed Best Actress award at this year's Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for her portrayal of Dr Ruth Wolff in director, Robert Icke's (The Wild Duck, Hamlet, Mary Stuart, Oresteia, 1984) sold-out, five-star Almeida Theatre production of The Doctor.

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE Opens At Olathe Civic Theatre Association
Olathe Civic Theatre Association gears up for the theater's first production of 2019, the musical SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. Directed by Tiffany Coville-Schweigert and music direction by Betsy Bledsoe, the show runs February 8-24, Todays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim and the book is by James Lapine.
Next Stage Theatre Festival Comes to Factory Theatre January 9 - 20th
Toronto's premiere winter arts celebration, the Next Stage Theatre Festival, begins this January 2019 with a stellar lineup of unique and innovative theatre. Presented by the Toronto Fringe, twelve carefully curated shows will be presented for the Festival's 12th anniversary, showcasing strong voices and well-written new plays. Yesterday, fourth year students in Sheridan's renowned Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program began workshopping four new musicals as part of the Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario.

Tamara Lawrance (Kings Charles III, Undercover) leads the cast as protagonist July in The Long Song, a three-part adaptation of Andrea Levy's award-winning, best-selling novel for BBC One, which will also star Hayley Atwell (Howards End, Avengers), Jack Lowden (War & Peace, Dunkirk) and Sir Lenny Henry (Broadchurch). As previously announced, the series director is Mahalia Belo.

TTIP's most often requested musical, SOUTH PACIFIC will have seven performances at the outdoor amphitheater Today through Sunday, June 22-24 and the following Wednesday through Saturday June 27-30. Showtime for all productions is 8:30 p.m. with gates opening at 7 p.m.
