Created by innovative dance company SAY, the dynamic show brings together the hype of underground music with the thrill of contemporary dance. After a successful Autumn tour, this high-energy and exciting show is back on the road in March. Co-produced by The Place, co-commissioned by The Place and DanceEast. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England'

Richard Alston is a man who doesn't need reviews any more. With a choreographic career spanning over fifty years (“entirely lacking any strategic plan” by his own admission), there is not much that hasn't been said. Alston is also adamant that this Final Edition is a celebration and not a funeral but there are moments in his generous mixed bill that feel heavily bittersweet. With the company closing after 25 years due to funding restrictions, Alston's work could always be guaranteed to bring quality additions to the dance calendar and its absence will be sorely felt.

For Shine On, his last work for his company of 25 years, Alston, who was knighted for his services to dance earlier this year, has chosen the music of Benjamin Britten, the composer he has choreographed to more than any other.

Richard Alston Dance Company has announced the programme for its 2019 Sadler's Wells season. Following the announcement of the company's closure in 2020, this will be the first of its final two seasons there. As the company enters its 25th year, it will present two works by Alston and one by the company's associate choreographer, Martin Lawrance under the title Quartermark.
