MITF Short Play Lab Announces Play Entries
Producer John Chatterton's Sweet 16th Year is underway with a new installment of the widely popular Short Play Lab Series. This special installment features 20 new works including Head Trauma by international playwright, Marcus Yi; and making its American theater debut, the Iran Saye Theatre's new work: THE MAN AND THE WORDS written and directed by Mehdi Mashhour and performed by Golshad Moradi & Alexsander Kwanje. International actress, Emmy Pai returns to New York theater in Christopher Sirota's new play, PULL THE TRIGGER, STUPID.
OLD MEN ARE FULL OF S**T Set for MITF
John Chatterton's venerable Midtown International Theatre Festival once again earned it name with a staged reading of a new play by emerging playwright Mohammed Saad Ali. The brusquely titled 'OLD MEN ARE FULL OF S**T' tells the story of Ismail, a Pakistani whose been in America for more than 20 years (played with great humor and biting wit by Jay Paranada) but, because of an error in paperwork might be deported as an illegal immigrant to Pakistan, a place he left as a baby.

The M's second psychic night was a rousing success. With lines out the door for tarot card readings, it was a good thing that Mary Elizabeth Micari invited guest reader Giovanni Conti to join her at the tables. People came from as near as down the block and as far as Long Island to learn what was in the cards for them from experienced readers, Mary and Giovanni. 'We were excited to come, so we made a night of it, we went to one of the restaurants here and then after, we went for drinks ... I miss Brooklyn!' exclaimed Gina Ocello.

Brooklyn's brightest stars shine on the same block as Matilda and Phantom of the Opera in Voices 2013, the fourth annual concert of Bay Ridge Vocal Studios. This year, the program's final concert moves to one of off-off Broadway's most recognized venues, the Producers Club in Manhattan. Pianist and composer Dan Furman returns for his second year with the celebrated Brooklyn school of voice.

Andrew Rothkin, Joseph Conway and More Set for NORMA JEANE, ENLIGHTENED Tonight, 8/2
Celebrated actor and playwright, Andrew Rothkin, joins the cast as John F. Kennedy and independent film actor, Joseph Conway, will appear as Tyrone Power. Returning from the original cast are Gloria Jung, Eric Kuzmuth, Martha Ghio, Michael Curcio, Bob Cencioni, Danny McDermott and Holly Elizabeth O'Brien as Norma Jeane.

Genesis Repertory Moves in to 650-Seat Theatre on 27th Avenue Tonight
The Genesis Repertory company is expanding to utilize two theaters - their studio theater at Bay 44th, which has become an Equity Showcase 99-seat theater when needed; and now a 650-seat theater on 27th Avenue with it's own entrance, private bathrooms, dressing areas, and kitchen/concession to be renovated to accommodate full-scale musical and contract productions.
Genesis Repertory Expands to Two Locations
Genesis Repertory - in the 3+ years it maintained residence in Brooklyn - has continued its acclaimed classical stage, premiered musicals and new works, expanded its training program to include acting, voice, young people's programs, and playwrighting, and even premiered a film at New York's Anthology Film Archives, now takes on a second location: The Block Institute's Block Academy, located at 133 27th Avenue, houses a 650-seat theater with it's own entrance, private bathrooms, dressing areas, and kitchen/concession.
Mary Elizabeth MiCari, Genesis' artistic director, decided to inaugurate this new space with the company's The Final Projects, part of its arts intensive training program, Genesis University on Stage. The event will be Saturday night, April 21 at 8:00 p.m. $10 All Seats.
