This Sunday, December 8, the Christmas season commences at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street at the corner of Elizabeth Street, NYC) with the opening of The Gospel of John, conceived and performed by award-winning Broadway veteran Ken Jennings (Sweeney Todd, Grand Hotel, Side Show). Jennings brings the Gospel to life on stage - in just 90 minutes. Directed by John Pietrowski (Artistic Director of Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey), The Gospel of John plays a limited holiday engagement through December 29 at The Sheen Center's Black Box Theater. Currently in previews, the official opening is Sunday, December 8 at 3PM. Writer's Theatre Of New Jersey Shares Lineup for Soundings Reading Series
The Writer's Theatre of New Jersey is kicking off their 2019 season with a series of new play readings in the new Madison Community Arts Center venue. This Winter Madison will be filled with writers eager to hear their pages come to life in front of an audience. Starting on January 3rd and going straight through until January 17th there will be 15 plays in 15 days.

WTNJ Opens its 2017-18 Season with SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY
Tino is a 12-year old boy in one of Newark's public schools. Picked on by fellow students for his studiousness and love of reading the Bible, and harassed by his aunt, who became his guardian after the violent death of his mother, he befriends Bernadette, the school lunch lady who doesn't like kids.
CURTAIN CALL to Take Place on 10/23 for New Jersey Theatre Alliance Day
In a proclamation dated September 19, 2017, Morristown Mayor Timothy P. Dougherty declared that October 23, 2017 will be known as New Jersey Theatre Alliance Day. On that day, New Jersey Theatre Alliance ( the Alliance ) will host Curtain Call, its annual celebration of theatre, at the Westin Governor Morris in Morristown, honoring the artistic directors of its member theatres for their dedication and artistic vision, and Atlantic Health System for its support of theatre programming that enhances the health and wellbeing of New Jersey residents. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and includes buffet stations, wine and beer, entertainment, a silent auction, and a raffle.

The Kennedy Center Honors Local New Jersey Student Playwrights
The Kennedy Center has just announced the winners in its annual VSA Playwright Discovery Competition and four of the twelve winners are students involved in Writers Theatre's New Jersey Writers Project programs! Alessandra Sommers and Colin McKenna, the winners of the Junior Division (grades 8-9), are students at the Union Academy for Performing Arts in Elizabeth and The Craig School in Mountain Lakes, respectively. Elijah Gaines and Jaleel Lindsay, winners in the Senior Division (grades 10-12), were students at the Green Residential Community Home in Ringwood. McKenna, Gaines, and Lindsay were all mentored by Writers Theatre teaching artist, Dominique Cieri, while Sommers was mentored by another Writers Theatre teaching artist, Carolyn Hunt. Carolyn's work at Union Academy for the Performing Arts is part of a long-time collaboration between WTNJ and the school, providing a playwriting class to ninth-graders taught by a professional playwright.
MCCC Gallery to Host 'Visual Arts Student Exhibition,' 4/11-5/3
Visual Arts students at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) are ready to shine as the Gallery at Mercer presents the final show of its 2015-16 season. The annual “Visual Arts Student Exhibition” is on display from Monday, April 11 to Tuesday, May 3, and is free and open to the public. The Gallery is located on the second floor of the college's Communications Building on the West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
NJPAC Launches Stage Exchange Program
