John Minigan is a recent Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow in Dramatic Writing. Queen of Sad Mischance was the 2022 winner of the Judith Royer Award from The Kennedy Center/ATHE and the Louise Woodward Award from The Lab Theater of Florida. Noir Hamlet was a Boston Globe Critics’ Pick, an Elliot Norton Outstanding New Script nominee, EDGEMedia Best of Boston Theater for 2018, and enjoyed a successful run at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe. In Boston, his work has been produced by Lyric Stage Company, Greater Boston Stage Company, Centastage, Vagabond, and others. He has developed new work with Orlando Shakespeare Theater, New Repertory Theater, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Portland Stage Company, , and the Great Plains Theatre Conference. His work has been included in the Best American Short Plays, Best Ten-Minute Short Plays, and other anthologies. John is a five-time winner of the Firehouse New Works Contest, a winner of the Nantucket Short Play Contest, the North Park Playwrights Festival, the Rover Dramawerks Competition, the Longwood 0-60 Contest, New York’s 8-Minute Madness Festival, the Nor’Eastern Playwriting Contest, Seoul Players Contest, and the KNOCK International Short Play Competition.
He is an affiliate faculty member at Emerson College and serves as a Dramatists Guild Ambassador for Eastern New England.
