Review: The Muny Honors Tradition with a Classic Performance of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
What did our critic think of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at The Muny? What can be said about an absolutely perfect production of one of the most well written musicals of all time? Hurling superlatives seems cliché but there is nothing about The Muny’s latest offering of the classic FIDDLER ON THE ROOF that can be criticized. From the opening when the town’s residents circle to share their “Traditions,” to their closing moments mourning the loss of their community “Anatevka,” this production makes you laugh and cry, and laugh and cry repeatedly. It is emotion-packed storytelling at its finest with superb direction, divine choreography, outstanding orchestral accompaniment, pristine sound, and a dream cast acting and singing at the top of their game. The costume, set, video, and lighting design are picture perfect.

No matter how many viewings, there is something about the characters of these beloved Christmas programs that feels familiar and right. But have you ever wondered what happened to these larger than life characters after their time in the red and green spotlight? These are the questions that TheaterWorks in Hartford hilariously tackles in CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS.

Few people seem to be familiar with Lerner & Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Those who are usually mention the 1969 film of the same title, starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood, known for being a ridiculously miscast and embarrassingly terrible flop. The musical, which originally appeared on Broadway in 1951, is similarly messy, and has gone pretty much unproduced for decades.
