Producers Scott Rudin, Barry Diller and Sonia Friedman Productions today announced that Rhys Ifans will play the iconic role of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird, the new play by Aaron Sorkin based on Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, directed by Bartlett Sher, which will open in London's West End in 2020. BWW Review: ON BEAR RIDGE, Royal Court Theatre
Two of the most prevalent themes in Ed Thomas' new play, On Bear Ridge, are memories and language. Set atop a mountain in a rural location, presumably somewhere in Wales, butcher John Daniel (Rhys Ifans), his wife Noni (Rakie Ayola) and slaughterman Ifan William (Sion Daniel Young) are bunkering down in their run-down shop while the snow builds higher outside the front door.

The world premiere of a new musical for animal lovers of all agesis set to open at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Ryan Bergmann (Die, Mommie, Die! at CTG Block Party) will direct the furry tale of fun created by Tony Cookson, with a book by Cookson and music and lyrics by John Daniel, Tony Cookson, Robb Curtis Brown and David O. Anthony Lucca will musical direct, and the choreographer is Janet Roston. Previews begin July 10, with the press opening set for July 15. Performances will continue through Aug. 5.
