BEN BUTLER Will Premiere At Gloucester Stage
Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with the Boston area premiere of Richard Strand's Ben Butler from August 2 through August 25 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, a smart and funny discourse on race, protocol and our sense of humanity garnered high critical acclaim during its Off Broadway run in 2016. New York's Joseph Discher who helmed the show's world premiere production in 2014 and the Off Broadway production in 2016, makes his GSC debut directing Ben Butler. Actors Ames Adamson as General Benjamin Butler and Shane Taylor as escaped slave Shepard Mallory make their GSC debut in Ben Butler. GSC veterans Doug Bowen-Flynn as Lieutenant Kelly and David DeBeck as Confederate Major Cary complete the cast. Richard Strand's Ben Butler, runs from August 2 through August 25. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA.
GIFF Announces Dynamic 2018 Feature Film Competition Lineup for 12th International Film Festival
The Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) is proud to announce the dynamic 2018 Feature Film Competition Lineup. The festival includes 35 U.S., international and documentary features, as well as other programming, to kick-off its 12th festival season. GIFF will begin on Tuesday, March 20th with the opening night musical/drama, Stuck, starring Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan and Ashanti.
Austin Film Fest Announces I, TONYA, Jim Gaffigan, Robert Townsend & More
Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today a late addition to its film slate. I, TONYA, the darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history, will serve as AFF's second Closing Night Film. Directed by Craig Gillespie, I TONYA stars Margot Robbie as Harding, Sebastian Stan as her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, and Allison Janney as Harding's acid-tongued mother. Writer Steven Rogers will be in attendance for the screening.
RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School Announces
Concerto & Aria Competition Co-Winners
On Saturday, November 14th, five finalists in the Rhode Island Philharmonic Concerto & Aria Competition performed at the Carter Center for Music Education & Performance with Music Director Larry Rachleff and Resident Conductor Francisco Noya serving as adjudicators. Finalists were selected from an initial round of applicants who submitted recorded performances. Participants included current students from the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School performing at a very high level.
HBO Orders LEWIS AND CLARK Miniseries, Starring Casey Affleck & Matthias Schoenaerts
HBO has greenlit LEWIS AND CLARK, with production on the six-hour miniseries to begin this summer, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Casey Affleck ('Interstellar'; Oscar(R) nominee for 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford') stars as Meriwether Lewis and Matthias Schoenaerts (the upcoming 'Far from the Madding Crowd'; Cesar Award winner for 'Rust and Bone') stars as William Clark. The miniseries is executive produced by Tom Hanks (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Pacific'), Gary Goetzman (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'Game Change'), Edward Norton (HBO's 'By the People: The Election of Barack Obama'), Brad Pitt (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Normal Heart'), Dede Gardner (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Normal Heart'), Tim Kelly and Adam Leipzig.
