Photos: First look at Curtain Players’ LITTLE WOMEN
Based on Louisa May Alcott's 1868-69 semi-autobiographical two-volume novel, it focuses on the four March sisters - traditional Meg, wild, aspiring writer Jo, timid Beth and romantic Amy - and their beloved Marmee, at home in Concord, Massachusetts, while their father is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War. Intercut with the vignettes in which their lives unfold are several recreations of the melodramatic short stories Jo writes in her attic studio. Performances run Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, & 21, 2024 at 8:00PM, Dec. 15 & 22, 2024 at 2:00PM at Curtain Players, 5691 Harlem Road, Galena, Ohio 43021. Review: LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL at Studio Underground At State Theatre Centre
Louisa May Alcott’s timeless classic LITTLE WOMEN has been made into virtually every form of media imaginable. Whilst the process of condensing a well loved and thematically dense book misses the mark in some places, the creatives from Emergent Academy have put enough into this performance to make for an enjoyable trip to the theatre.

Review: LITTLE WOMEN ASTONISHES AUDIENCE MEMBERS IN JACKSON at Thalia Mara Hall
What do you get when you take a fiercely determined young woman, her three vastly different but equally loyal sisters, an imagination that can create whole operatic tragedies in the space of an old attic? Little Women the Musical, which made a stop at Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, Mississippi on February 6th. The second in the Broadway in Jackson season presented by Trustmark, the show brought to life a story beloved by generations and set it to music. Presented by Big League Productions, Inc., the production itself ran the entire gamut of emotion in just a couple of hours.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL at The Royal Theatre
What did our critic think of LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL at The Royal Theatre? The classic novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is a favorite amongst our household, so we were excited when we heard LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL was going to be at The Royal Theatre, 111 S Market St., in Benton, August 3-13, 2023. I am confident in reporting that there were tears shed, not only from me but from many audience members the night we attended the show. There was so much to this production, and I will get to that shortly.Â
Review: TROUBLE IN MIND at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
Trouble in Mind made its Broadway premiere in 2021, 66 years after it was produced off-Broadway at Greenwich Mews Theatre. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is known for its unique takes on classic stories and reviving them for a fresh audience, and this play is no exception. Known for its general themes of racism and sexism from a black perspective, the play eerily reflects a modern culture and language despite being written several decades ago. Manipulative tactics are used strategically by the characters, performative allyships are shattered, and false dignity is stripped for raw truth.
