BWW Reviews: DOUBLE INDEMNITY at ACT - Almost There
by BWW
News Desk - Nov 20, 2011
Being a fan of film-noir, I was delighted to have the opportunity to review "Double Indemnity," the final show of A Contemporary Theatre's 2011 season. Adapted from James M. Cain's 1936 novella, it's basically the same framework as his 1934 novel "The Postman Always Rings Twice." If you're unfamiliar with the storyline, I shan't spoil the fun.

Slide into the seedy underworld of Mac the Knife, a dapper criminal who leaves a trail of broken hearts and slashed throats wherever he roams. In this musical satire of 'respectable' society, betrayals abound while new alliances form between the dashing thieves, saucy prostitutes, and scheming entrepreneurs in this crowning achievement of musical theatre.

BWW Reviews: 42ND STREET at Village Theatre
by Jay Irwin - May 16, 2010
Right from the first few notes of "We're in the Money" from the overture or the first glimpses of those dancin' feet under the curtain, you know you should be in for a big flashy Broadway musical. And Village Theatre's final show of their season, "42nd Street" does not let you down. The show is a toe tappin', sequin clad throw back to the old style musicals and a big bright ball of fun!
BWW Interviews: Spotlight on AN ILIAD’s Hans Altwies
by Jay Irwin - Apr 19, 2010
I met up with Hans in between his Matinee and Evening shows of "An Iliad" on Saturday. In the short time since he arrived here in 1993 to go to school at Cornish College of the Arts (where he graduated in 1996) this 39 year old from Detroit, Michigan has become one of the hot tickets in the Seattle theater scene. But beyond that, he's also a really great guy.
