BIO
Johanna Pan is a costume and scenic designer from Singapore. With Sarah, she has production designed The Stand Ins (Manhattan Rep) and Stonewater Rapture (Ithaca College). Other credits include costume designer for Fingers & Toes (Plaza Theatre) directed by Bob Moss, Am I? Am I? Am I? (Flea), Dogs of DC (Manhattan Rep), Remission (Columbia New Play Workshop Festival), Nibbler (Stable Cable Lab Co.), Second Skin, How I Learned to Drive (Theatre 54@Shetler), set designer for She Stoops to Conquer (Across the Rubicon). There is nothing in the world like a compelling, original story, well told. And when the story is true, darkly and brilliantly real, it becomes absolutely indispensable. Playwright Mark St. Germain has plumbed the depths of the Holocaust to create a deeply moving one-man show, The Happiest Man on Earth. The journey veteran actor Kenneth Tigar takes us on is harrowing—but there is an epiphany, a moment, when the pain and anger and sorrow give way to pure joy.

Glamour, glitz, and gams galore! You’ll get this and more with 42nd Street, which opens up the 72nd Broadway at Music Circus season. This love letter to Broadway actually didn’t start there. It took over forty years after the film was released to be made into a Broadway musical. It made its debut at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1980 and won the 1981 Tony Award for Best Musical.
