New York's Rising Phoenix Repertory Brings CINO NIGHTS To L.A.

Cino Nights - The purchase of a book or poster gets you into this one-night only, site-specific theatrical event at Larry Edmunds Bookshop. New York's Rising Phoenix Repertory reprises its popular series in Los Angeles for the first time with seven commissioned, short, world premiere plays - all set in the bookshop - from some of theater's top contemporary writers. All proceeds go to the bookshop.

Memories unravel and dark truths are revealed in a haunting ghost story by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Daniel Talbott(Slipping) when The Echo Theater Company's West Coast premiere returns in a third and final rendition (following productions in April and July) with a third set of ensemble members. This time round, Chris Fields directs Ian Bamberg,Matthew Gallenstein and, at alternate performances,Kenzie Caplan and Mara Klein, for a Sept. 27 opening at Atwater Village Theatre.

Echo Theater's WHAT HAPPENED WHEN Gets Second Run with New Cast

What Happened When - Echo Theater Company's West Coast premiere of Daniel Talbott's haunting ghost story returns with a different set of ensemble members. On a snowy night in a rural farmhouse, three siblings (Randall Clute, Joey Stromberg and Libby Woodbridge) huddle together in the dark with a flashlight, while the audience (unseen by them) gathers closely around. Expect to be fully immersed in this beautiful, provocative and disturbing memory play. (The production's April run featured Klute alongside Ellen Neary and Chris Stack; the show will reopen for a third run at the end of September with Randall Clute, Matthew Gallenstein, and, at alternate performances, Kenzie Caplan and Mara Klein.)

Rising Phoenix Repertory and Weathervane Productions have commissioned new plays from three female playwrights, which will each be produced over the next two seasons. Rising Phoenix Repertory's artistic director, Daniel Talbott, will direct all three plays. The first of the commissions onstage is Thieves by Charlotte Miller, making its world premiere at the Monroe Forum Theatre in North Hollywood, California, March 18, 2015 through April 4, 2015, co-produced by Rising Phoenix Repertory, Weathervane Productions and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater.
