Bay Street Players to Present RED, Opening 2/21
Red, a drama Josh Logan, will open at the State Theatre in downtown Eustis on February 21 and run through February 24. Called "a visceral exercise in art appreciation" by the New York Times, Red tells the story of artist Mark Rothko, and his commission in 1958 to paint a series of murals for the Four Seasons restaurant in New York. The play explores the heart of a controversial artist and the compromises that must sometimes be made between art and the need to survive. This production features long-time friends and collaborators Terrence Shank and Joel Warren.
BSP Opens AVENUE Q, 1/25
AVENUE Q, the bawdy and downright naughty Tony Award-winning musical by Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx, and Jeff Whitty opens at the State Theatre located at 109 N. Bay Street in downtown Eustis January 25 and will run through February 17. Called "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see" by Entertainment Weekly, AVENUE Q features a cast of humans and puppets who tell a story about trying to make it in New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. This production is directed by Joel Warren, director of BSP's Second Stage Series. John deHaas is the musical director, and choreography is by Amanda Warren. Bay Street Players Announce 2011-2012 Dolly Award Winners
The 2011-2012 Bay Street Players Dolly Award winners were announced during the 37th Annual Dolly Award event, "Night of the Stars." The gala evening took place Saturday evening August 18, 2012 at the Historic State Theatre in Eustis. This event featured the opening of the theatre's newly remolded lobby extension.
