Festival Napa Valley Wraps Record-Setting Season and Raises $2.8 Million at Arts for All Gala

Roaring back into action with 60 outdoor, sold-out concerts and events over two weeks, Festival Napa Valley capped its 15th summer season by raising a record-breaking $2.8 million at its Arts for All Gala, headlined by global superstar Jennifer Hudson.
MET Orchestra Musicians and Frederica von Stade Honor Fallen Colleagues With SONGS WITHOUT WORDS Concert

Frederica 'Flicka' von Stade will join MET Orchestra musicians in a streaming program of chamber music. This performance will remember five orchestra colleagues who have passed away since the pandemic began. Flicka will sing Poulenc's 'Les anges musiciens,' ('Angel Musicians') from La courte paille as a tribute to their memories.

Elvira lived in a time when women had no rights, so in opera madness allowed her to proclaim her true feelings. Coss expressed them most eloquently. Terrence Chin-Loy as Des Grieux sang “Ah! Fuyez, douce image” from Massenet’s opera Manon.

General Director Joseph Spector greeted the tiny audience of donors and the much larger online assemblage with remembrances of the companya??s former general director, Joel Revzen, and a video about the late chair of the Arizona Opera Board of Directors, Robert Tancer.

Rife with corruption and intrigue, teeming with forbidden love and deception, Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto is among the most often performed operas in America - and Nashville Opera closes out its 2009-2010 season with a beautifully designed and sumptuously mounted production of the Italian masterpiece in Andrew Jackson Hall at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Yet, as exquisite as its physical trappings are, Nashville Opera's Rigoletto may be even more impressive in its artful musicality: it is rapturously sung by a deft blending of talented newcomers to the Nashville stage.
