BIO

Joel Newsome: Currently playing Lord Clapham in the 1st National tour of SOMETHING ROTTEN. Joel was a member of the Chicago, Toronto and US National tour Companies of Elton John's BILLY ELLIOT. He was a member of the last North American Company of BILLY ELLIOT which closed in Brazil. BROADWAY: 42ND STREET Revival where he covered and performed the roles of Andy Lee and Bert Barry. He can also be seen on the 2001 Tony Awards performing with the company of 42nd Street. Other Broadway shows include Mel Brooks' THE PRODUCERS directed and Choreographed By Susan Stroman. He was the Leo Bloom and Carmen Ghia understudy. He left the Broadway company to join the 2nd National tour of THE PRODUCERS where he eventually took over the role of Leo Bloom for a period of time. He was a part of the original incarnation of Jonathon Larson's RENT. Regionally, Joel has performed all over the country at theaters such as: Goodspeed Opera House, Paper Mill Playhouse, Theatre Under the Stars, Southern Arizona Light Opera Company, Music Theatre of Wichita, Arizona Theatre Company, North Carolina Theatre, Caldwell Theatre, Riverside theatre, Florida Stage as well and Florida Studio Theatre. Joel is a Graduate of The University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.
