 In this political year, it seems very appropriate that the new production at Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire is Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone’s musical 1776, the background story of the days leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Amy and the Orphans by Lindsey Ferrentino, directed by Scott Ellis. The cast includes Vanessa Aspillaga as 'Kathy,' Mark Blum as 'Jacob,' Jamie Brewer as 'Amy,' Diane Davisas 'Sarah,' Josh McDermitt as 'Bobby' and Debra Monk as 'Maggie.' Amy and the Orphans opened officially last night at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). This will be a limited engagement through April 22, 2018.
BWW Review: THE SPARROW, An Intriguing Performance Piece Not Quite Ready for Flight

The west coast premiere of THE SPARROW successfully intrigues as a stylistic performance art piece with some stunning visuals utilizing backlite scrims, clever choreography and inventive staging, with some haunting original music by Gregory Nabours. Kudos to Kristin Browning Campbell's scenic design and Tasheena Medina's choreography using school desks as percussive accents and balls and books as dancing props.

Calarco, opening is set for tonight, October 24 at 8pm. The Sparrow will play through November 21 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center.

Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's Pay What You Want Company, has announced the final production of its 2015 season, the West Coast premiere of The Sparrow by Chris Mathews, Jake Minton, and Nathan Allen. Directed by Joseph V. Calarco, there will be one preview performance on October 23 at 8pm and opening is set for Saturday, October 24 at 8pm. The Sparrow will play through November 21 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center.

In conjunction with the Natural History Museum of L.A. County's 100th Anniversary, Chalk Repertory Theatre will premiere GALLERY SECRETS, four new short plays commissioned by four Los Angeles playwrights performed after hours at NHM. Each play is inspired by an assigned gallery, and set in the time period when that gallery was built, uncovering 100 years of history, architecture and exhibits.

TLC to Air THE MAN WITH THE 132 LB SCROTUM One-Hour Special, 8/19

On Monday, August 19 at 9 PM ET/PT, TLC will document the extraordinary story of Wesley Warren Jr., a 49-year-old Las Vegas resident who is living with a rare medical condition called scrotal lymphedema. The one-hour special, THE MAN WITH THE 132 LB SCROTUM, will follow Wes's life as he deals with day-to-day challenges that are easy for most people. Due to the large size of his scrotum, Wes has difficulty with simple tasks like walking, preparing meals and even going to the restroom.

The Ruckus Theater hops into the teenage decade of the second millennium by announcing two additions to its 2009/2010 season: the world premiere of The Gay American by Kristian O'Hare, directed by Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker (May 2010), and a workshop of the world-premiere musical Escape from the Vienna Boys Choir, book Aaron Dean, music and lyrics by Jason Rico (June 2010); both are produced at The Side Project Theatre (1439 W Jarvis).
