Michelle DeJean, Michael Tapley to Lead TUTS' BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) just announced the cast of The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, running June 5 - 17 at the Hobby Center for The Performing Arts. It's all big songs and big hair in this sassy, spirited musical about a real-life brothel in Texas. Based on the "Chicken Ranch", the infamous, long-running house of ill repute, this tongue-in-cheek story chronicles Miss Mona Stangley, a classy yet brassy madam with a heart of gold, as her "business" becomes the center of a media controversy. Thrusting the Chicken Ranch into the spotlight is Melvin P. Thorpe, a loud-mouthed reporter based on Houston's own late Marvin Zindler. Spicing up the story line is a hot-headed, trigger-happy town sheriff, the Texas A&M football team, and Miss Mona's risque girls. The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas will be a feisty, fun-filled treat that includes favorites such as "A Lil' Ole Bitty Pissant Country Place" and "Hard Candy Christmas".
Caldwell, Shepherd lead cast of TCT's MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940

Do the names 'Joe Shepherd' or 'Corey Caldwell' ring a bell? No? Well, I just bet their voices would: Both men have been featured in numerous radio and television commercials, whether as the voice of Brentwood Jewelers (in the case of Corey Caldwell) or as the creator of a Peabody Award-winning program in Washington, D.C. (as Joe Shepherd was).
BWW Reviews: THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940 at Towne Centre Theatre

John Bishop's The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is a deliciously campy send-up of movies, mysteries and musicals - and now, thanks to a top-flight production from Brentwood's Towne Centre Theatre, local audiences can once again revel in the play's cleverly constructed, though thoroughly implausible, plot brought to life by an accomplished cast.

Blues guitar legend Paul Ubana Jones plays at Downstage this month with a spine tingling solo concert. He crosses genres of blues, soul, groove and folk, with Indian tunings and an impressive finger-picking technique.

Towne Centre Theatre Has Family Affair on Tap for I REMEMBER MAMA, 4/9

Described a 'a sweet and endearing look at the American dream for all types during any era in our nation's history,' I Remember Mama features Paula Higgins as the headstrong Mama, while Annaliese Higgins plays her daughter Katrin. Recently transplanted to Tennessee, the two actresses have been looking for an opportunity to share the limelight and, at the same time, that would allow them to become more involved with the Brentwood community.

REVIEW: 'Noises Off' from Circle Players

The inspired lunacy of Michael Frayn's Noises Off is a good choice for any theatre company seeking to offer a glimpse into the wacky antics of life on the boards and Circle Players continues its 60th annual season with a largely successful production that features the aforementioned stellar performances of Maggie Pitt and Jeremy Maxwell in the roles of Poppy and Tim (the techies in Frayn's show-within-a-show structure). Pitt and Maxwell deliver disarmingly natural performances amid all the hilarious hijinks taking place in Frayn's wonderfully funny farce and they very nearly-actually, they do it outright-steal the show.
'Noises Off' next offering in Circle Players' 2009-2010 season

Michael Frayn's Noises Off is the next production of Circle Players' 2009-2010 season, running October 16 through November 1. Frayn's comedy is a play with a play, filled with door slams and physical gags as a dysfunctional cast and crew attempt to open a new theatre production to tour the British provinces.
