The Abbey Theater of Dublin will present encore performances of the regional premiere production of 'A Walk in the Woods,' written by award-winning playwright Lee Blessing.
Review: AMERICAN IDIOT at Abbey Theater Of Dublin

What is refreshing about AMERICAN IDIOT is since it’s a pre-professional project, the entire cast is in the 14-19 age range. That is about the same age as the characters in the show. This cast doesn’t come across as amateurish. Lavery nails his role as Tunny, who comes home from the Gulf War broken, both physically and mentally. Hund’s wrestling with his inner demons and St. Jimmy feels real as did Williams’ portrayal of a teenager struggling with apathy and responsibility.
Interview: Playwright Robert Cooperman of AN UMBRELLA ON A RAINY, RAINY DAY

In her book, BURNT OFFERING, author Laurell K. Hamilton writes, “Never trust people who smile constantly. They're either selling something or not very bright.”
Photos: First Look at Abby Theatre of Dublin's AMERICAN IDIOT: THE MUSICAL

Green Day’s powerhouse album is brought to life in this electric-rock musical of youthful disillusion. Johnny, Tunny and Will struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. When the three disgruntled men flee the constraints of their hometown for the thrills of city life, their paths are quickly estranged. An energy-fueled rock opera, “American Idiot” features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day’s groundbreaking album to execute the storyline. Performances run Aug. 8, 10, 11, 14, 16 and 17, 2024 at 7 p.m. Performances at the Abbey Theater of Dublin, 5600 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43017. Tickets and Information visit: https://www.optheatre.org/

Photos: First look at New Albany Youth Theatre's DISNEY'S FINDING NEMO JR

Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a “fin-tastic” musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.

After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family.

Review: A WALK IN THE WOODS at The Abbey Theater

What did our critic think of A WALK IN THE WOODS at The Abbey Theater? Bishara’s non-nonsense Honeywell verbally spars with Holliday’s frivolous Botvinnik. The Soviet diplomat believes the only way the treaty can work is if the two develop an attitude of friendship and trust. Honeywell believes the two must maintain a sense of formality.
Interview: Lee Blessing And Joe Bishara of A WALK IN THE WOODS at Abbey Theatre Of Dublin

“I wish A WALK IN THE WOODS did not feel as timely now as it did when it was originally produced. … This play illuminates the importance for each of us as citizens of the world to understand that there are many layers to foreign politics/relations.” Joe Bishara
Review: Lending an ear to VAN GOGH'S IN THE ATTIC at Abbey Theater In Dublin

Cooney’s script is much like a van Gogh painting. Some characters, like Erin, are created with intricate paintbrush strokes; others are fingerpainted in concentric circles.

A world premiere, break-neck comedy by Irish playwright and Abbey Theater favorite Sean Cooney set on the south coast of Ireland in the 1980s. Feral MacAdoo, suffering from a dissociative fugue after a bombing attack in Dublin, now believes he is the painter Vincent Van Gogh.
Interview: Sean Cooney of VAN GOGH'S IN THE ATTIC

“Most all of my plays happened in and around things in my life. People would say ‘Oh my God, Sean, what happened here?’ and I would be in the middle of it for some reason.” Sean Cooney
