BIO

Praised for her “acclaimed soprano voice that lends itself to the well-known classics and popular show tunes known as the Great American Songbook” (The Sparta Independent), Jody Mullen enjoys a versatile career.

In 2013, Jody was invited to perform solo in New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Prudential Hall in Newark for the St. Joseph’s Charity Ball, where prominent guests included WABC-TV anchor Lori Stokes and former U.S. Senator Robert Toricelli, among many others. She was also named a semi-finalist in the Teaneck Cabaret Competition in May 2014.

Jody spent two seasons performing with the NYC-based young artist program dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, for which Meche Kroop of The Opera Insider praised her “fine harmonizing.” She has served as a professional soprano soloist and section leader at Grace Church Brooklyn Heights since 2008. She has also appeared in Off-Broadway productions, including a revival of The Most Happy Fella (2004), and has recorded a series of traditional lullabies as promotional content for the online retailer BabyBlankets.com.

Jody’s enthusiasm for community outreach through music has led her to perform as a guest on benefit concerts for for organizations like The ALS Association and JoannaCare. In 2013, she produced and performed in a concert that raised $2300 for the regional NJ neonatal ICU that cared for her own son. She is currently employed as a performer for Music for All Seasons.

Equal parts New Englander and Jersey girl, Jody moved to New York at 18 to attend Barnard College, Columbia University, from which she graduated magna cum laude, and spent a summer at CAP21. Her senior recital, a cabaret-style presentation of American popular songs, won her the Ethel Stone LeFrak Prize.

The 2015 season will include Jody’s cabaret debut New York City, directed by Lennie Watts, President of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets, with music direction by acclaimed pianist Eddie Schnecker.

She has lived in New Jersey for most of her life but would like you to know that she still roots for the Red Sox. She is not an official spokesperson for Dunkin’ Donuts but probably should be.
