Jocelyn L. Buckner is a resident artist of The Chance Theater. She has dramaturged the On The Radar: New Works Series since 2016 as well as Maple and Vine, A Bright New Boise, Seminar, Middletown, in a word, and the upcoming Elevada in the mainstage season. She has also worked with South Coast Repertory Theatre, Pitt Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Orange County, and Center Stage Theatre. She is the editor of A Critical Companion to Lynn Nottage (Routledge, 2016), and has published book chapters in anthologies and articles, editorials, book reviews, and performance reviews in African American Review, American Studies Journal, Ecumenica Journal, Journal of American Drama and Theatre, HowlRound, Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, Popular Entertainment Studies, Theatre History Studies, Theatre Journal, Theatre Survey, and Theatre Topics. Buckner also serves as the book review editor for Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism. She is an assistant professor of theatre at Chapman University and holds a Ph.D. in Theatre Studies from the University of Kansas, an M.F.A. in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.A. in Theatre and Economics from Converse College.
