Repertory Dance Theatre is the nation's oldest and most successful repertory dance company. For 50 years, we've been pushing the boundaries of modern dance, while preserving its legacy. It was radical when a bunch of Utah modern dancers beat out the big city stalwarts to receive a Rockefeller grant establishing us as the nation's first repertory dance company. Today, we're just as revolutionary as we were in 1966.
Northrop Announces 2014 McKnight Artists Fellowships

Northrop has announced the recipients of the 2014 McKnight Artist Fellowships for Choreographers and the McKnight Artist Fellowships for Dancers. Each fellow will receive a $25,000 fellowship award.

Shapiro & Smith Dance at 25 Programming Announced

Twin Cities contemporary dance institution Shapiro & Smith Dance celebrates 25 years with a spring program at the Cowles Center for Dance & Performing Arts that includes two world premieres and three repertory works. The centerpiece of the program is Voices, in which company founder and artistic director Joanie Smith (City Pages' 2010 "Artist of the Year") has invited five former Shapiro & Smith dancers and guest artists to create "dance phrases or encounters" that will be woven into a new work for the company, with live music by the Orange Mighty Trio.
