BIO

Joan Sobel has sung leading operatic roles in this country and abroad. Living in New York for over 17 years, she moved to Las Vegas in 2006 as an original cast member of Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular. She currently plays the fiery diva Carlotta Guidicelli.

Joan is a native Virginian and a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. She studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria. A singer and actress, she has in performed in varied venues from The Cirque Gruss in Paris to the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall to Carnegie Hall and done many recitals and concerts in between.

BAFTA Winners Announced for 2018 Student Film Awards

On Friday, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the winners of the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards, presented by Global Student Accommodation (GSA) in a gala ceremony and presentation at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has today announced the shortlist for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards. Following the international expansion of the Awards in 2017, this year's shortlisted 60 films have been selected from the 469 submissions by students at film schools in 35 countries across the world, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Israel, Kenya, Lebanon, Russia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

The Smith Center Celebrates Five Years With Commemorative Anniversary Concert

Last night (March 7, 2017), The Smith Center for the Performing Arts celebrated its milestone Fifth Anniversary with a sold-out, commemorative concert featuring Broadway favorites, local talents and more. Emceed by Broadway veterans and stars of THE LAST FIVE YEARS Adam Kantor (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF) and Betsy Wolfe (BULLETS OVER BROADWAY) each talked about the last five years at The Smith Center. Featured performers included Brent Barrett (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR), Santino Fontana (CINDERELLA) and Jessica Fontana (IDAHO! THE COMEDY MUSICAL), Chandra Lee Schwartz (WICKED), Teller of Penn and Teller, Nate Dendy (THE TEMPEST), Christopher Convery (KINKY BOOTS), J. Elaine Marcos (MISS SAIGON), Christine Hudman (IDAHO! THE COMEDY MUSICAL), Ashley Loren (BAZ - STAR CROSSED LOVE), Randal Keith (LES MISERABLES), Bruce Ewing (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR), Alex Ellis (IDAHO!
