The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) presents the nineteenth edition of LOOT: MAD About Jewelry, its annual exhibition and sale of one-of-a-kind contemporary jewelry. Open to the public April 9 through April 13, following the Opening Benefit on April 8, LOOT 2019 showcases the work of fifty-five emerging and acclaimed international jewelry artists and designers, most of whom have never been shown in New York. The event provides the rare opportunity for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts to meet and acquire pieces from some of the most innovative creators in the field.

MAD Announces New Trustees and Treasurer

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) announced today the appointment of two new Trustees: Andi Potamkin Blackmore and Simon Bolton. The Board of Trustees also named current Finance Committee Chair Michael Dweck Treasurer. The election took place at the December 8, 2016, board meeting.

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele Cohen as Chair of its Board of Trustees. Cohen succeeds Lewis Kruger, who has become Chairman Emeritus. MAD's Board of Trustees also elected Ann Kaplan as Secretary, and voted to appoint Joan Hornig and Barbara Waldman as new Trustees.

Sundance Institute Announces Lineup for Fall Theatre Labs

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists participating in its two Fall artist development programs: the Alumni Writers Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY, which ran October 4-11, as well as the two-week Theatre Lab for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place November 8-22. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the 24 residency Labs the Institute hosts each year for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content.

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists that will participate in its two Fall artist development programs: the inaugural Playwrights Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY (October 19-26), as well as the two-week Theatre Lab (November 30 - December 14) for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Philanthropist and jewelry designer Joan Hornig will receive the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award presented annually by The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) to Americans who have made it their mission to share with those less fortunate their wealth of knowledge, indomitable courage, boundless compassion, unique talents and selfless generosity; all while maintaining the traditions of their ethnic heritage as they uphold the ideals and spirit of America. The awards will be presented May 10 on historic Ellis Island at an elegant ceremony and dinner that embodies the spirit of America in their celebration of patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity. Hosted by Sherle Wagner International, the premier source, world-wide, for luxury bath hardware, and bath accessories and the recently launched Fairweather Magazine dedicated to following La Dolce Vita world-wide, the Vernissage drew over 400 guests to the gorgeous showroom. A magnificent sculpture in painted and chromed steel, “Rev. E. Piscapalian Study” by the renowned John Chamberlain towered over attendees as they arrived and were greeted by Evan Geoffroy, CEO, Sherle Wagner, Alexandra Fairweather and Eric Goodman, co-founders Fairweather Magazine and Pinki Patel of The Watermill Center.
