Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy will stage two 1950s-era shows to round out a season of successful youth programming.  REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, made famous by the 1955 film starring legendary Hollywood bad boy James Dean, will play August 15, 16, and 17 at 7pm, and August 18 at 3pm. THE MAN FROM PLANET 52, a campy love letter to B-movies, will be performed on August 15, 16, and 17 at 4pm and on August 18 at 11am.  The performances will be at the historic Bangor Opera House, 131 Main Street, Bangor.

Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights to spy thriller THE OPERATIVE starring Diane Kruger, Martin Freeman, and Cas Anvar.  The release is planned for Q3 2019. Endeavor Content is handling international distribution rights.

Florida Studio Theatre's Summer Mainstage and Cabaret Seasons kick off with music, mystery, and unforgettable characters.  The Mainstage Season opens on June 2 and runs through August 20 in the Keating and Gompertz Theatres. National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces four Rolling World Premieres: Halftime with Don by Ken Weitzman, Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood, The Arsonists by Jacqueline Goldfinger, and Building the Wall by Robert Schenkkan. The four plays will receive a total of 15 NNPN RWP productions, with each play seeing at least three distinct productions in a discrete 12-month period.
