Greenwich+docklands International Festival Announces Full 2019 Programme
Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF), London's leading festival of outdoor theatre and performing arts, today announces the full programme for the 2019 festival, running from 21 June - 6 July in locations across Royal Greenwich, East London and, for the first time, the City of London. This year, the annual free outdoor festival features more than 130 performances and 15 UK premieres, and includes opening and closing ceremonies in celebration of the spirit of the people and places in which these two major events will take place.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek, from the imagination of local playwright Joe Pauly comes the outrageous tale of Ebenezer Scungili, the heat-toting Italian olive oil import company proprietor (wink-wink-nudge-nudge) and his miserly, Christmas-hating ways. In this clever adaption of the holiday favorite, 'A Christmas Cannoli' is what happens when 'Casino,' 'Godfather 1, 2, and 3' meet 'A Christmas Carol' and birth an illegitimate, blue-humored, sarcastic baby.

Coming to The CWP Black Box on June 29-July 1 is Pop Goes America. Inspired by listening to Lou Vega's Mambo #5, local playwright Jim Russell decided to pen historic tales using the melodies of recognized pop music over a short duration of 3 days. From that inspiration came 24 original songs with dances choreographed by director Drew Eberhard that will take you from the 1800s to modern times over a period of two hours.

BWW Review: THE FOREIGNER Reflects Open Hearts and Closed Minds at Carrollwood Players Theatre
I've been to movies where the audience interacts with the actors on screen, but never have I been to a play like that. Surprisingly, it wasn't disruptive. It almost felt natural. The patron interaction to 'The Foreigner' was nearly as comical as the play. Director Miguel E. Rodriguez warned that (paraphrasing here) if we have half as much watching as he did directing, then we were about to have a fun night.
