Texas State Launches Scholarship Fund to Honor the Late Trent Armand Kendall
A crowdfunding campaign to create an endowed scholarship to honor the late Broadway actor Trent Armand Kendall has been launched by Kaitlin Hopkins the head of the BFA Musical Theatre program at Texas State University, and her husband and faculty member Jim Price, who were long time friends of Kendall and one-time cast mates with him on the hit musical Batboy.
Nashville's Geoffrey Nauffts to Workshop New Musical SWITCHED at Texas State University
Award winning writer Geoffrey Nauffts will workshop his new musical at Texas State University as part of The Harrison/Bowman New Works Commission, funded in part by The Stillwater Foundation. Switched is a new musical with book by Geoffrey Nauffts and music and lyrics by Jonatha Brooke. The workshop will be directed by Tony nominated director Sheryl Kaller.
bare Will Navigate to the Big Screen; Kristin Hanggi Set to Direct Film
BroadwayWorld has just learned that bare, the movie is in the works from Tony nominated producers Hillary Butorac Weaver and Janet Billig Rich and Tony nominated director Kristin Hanggi at the helm. Hanggi was the original director of the musical and adapted the screenplay for the film.

Head of Texas State Musical Theatre Kaitlin Hopkins to Help Create First Program in Chile
Kaitlin Hopkins, Broadway actress and Head of Musical Theatre at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX recently returned from Santiago, Chile where she and her husband, Broadway veteran Jim Price, are working in collaboration with the ProJazz Institute in Santiago, to launch the very first musical theatre training program in that South American country. In addition, they are consultants to the Teatro Municipal de Las Condes http://www.tmlascondes.cl/ to assist in providing musical theater programming to Chilean audiences.
Texas State University Welcomes Michael Maresca and Cassie Abate to Faculty
Celebrated vocal coach Michael Maresca and choreographer Cassie Abate join the musical theatre faculty at Texas State University. Maresca will head musical theater voice and Abate will be the head of musical theatre dance. Texas State's musical theatre program has risen to national prominence since Broadway veteran Kaitlin Hopkins took the helm in the fall of 2009.
University of Texas Offers Musical Theatre Workshop for Teens, Now thru 6/30
The University of Texas at Austin, in collaboration with Texas State University-San Marcos, is offering the inaugural Texas Musical Theatre Workshop, a three-week, pre-professional summer intensive for high school students exploring a potential career in musical theatre. This program brings New York's Broadway talent to Texas, providing students musical theatre training by industry professionals. Teaching artists include Tony Award-nominated composer Andrew Lippa, director Matt Lenz, Broadway performer Joyce Chittick and university faculty members.
