BWW Interview: Jim Vagias, Producing Artistic Director of American Theater Group

We continue our series with theatre professionals by interviewing ATG's Producing Artistic Director, Jim Vagias about the company and the future.
American Theater Group's THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY At SOPAC

American Theater Group and Producing Artistic Director James Vagias present the Tony Award-winning musical The Bridges of Madison County at the South Orange Performing Arts Center June 20-30. Based on the best-selling novel and hit film starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood, The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller was developed by the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning creative team of Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade, Songs for a New World) and Marsha Norman (The Color Purple, The Secret Garden, 'night Mother).
American Theater Group Announces Non-Equity Auditions For THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

American Theater Group, SOPAC's professional Equity theatre company in-residence, announces auditions for non-Equity actors for the musical The Bridges of Madison County by Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman, based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller. The performances will take place at the South Orange Performing Arts Center June 20-30, 2019. The musical will be directed and choreographed by Merete Muenter with musical direction by Brent Sawyer and conducted by Keith Levenson.
Full Casting And Creative Team Announced For Tell Them I'm Still Young- American Theater Group At SOPAC

American Theater Group proudly announces the full cast and creative team for its World Premiere production of Tell Them I'm Still Young, a new play by Julia Doolittle, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center January 24 - February 3, 2019. Joining the previously announced Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Streets, Men of a Certain Age, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Michele Pawk (Hollywood Arms, Hairspray, Mamma Mia) are Janice Amaya (Seen/Unseen) and Seth Clayton (The Madrid).

American Theater Group announces the World Premiere production of Tell Them I'm Still Young, by Julia Doolittle, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center January 24-February 3, 2019. The cast includes two award-winning leading actors of stage, film and television. Andre Braugher and Michele Pawk portray a professor and a poet whose marriage is shaken when tragedy strikes. As they grapple with the aftermath, a lover from the past and an ambitious graduate student enter their lives.
Maplewood Playwright Erin Mallon to Debut New Play at SOPAC

On May 21 at 7 p.m., Erin Mallon's new play, A Mind Out of the Gutter, will be presented by American Theater Group in a reading in the South Orange Performing Arts Center Loft. The reading gives professional actors a chance to bring life to the play as they read with script-in-hand, and gives audiences the opportunity to give valuable feedback to the playwright as she continues to refine the work.
American Theater Group Brings Topical New Play to SOPAC Loft Staged Reading of A GOOD FARMER

American Theater Group, the South Orange Performing Arts Center's  new theatre company in-residence, presents a staged reading of A Good Farmer by Sharyn Rothstein on Sunday, April 2 at 7 p.m.  The powerful story, set in upstate New York, tells a compelling tale of one family's struggle to maintain their farm through adversity. The wheels of crisis are set into motion when they hire a Mexican immigrant to help them. The topical play highlights the humanity of those whose only crime was to come to American and make a better life for their families, and the bonds we all share as immigrants seeking the American dream. 
SOPAC Announces Theatre in-Residence American Theater Group Makes South Orange its New Home

The South Orange Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce a new partnership with American Theater Group, a professional member theatre of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance. The company, headed by Producing Artistic Director James Vagias, will begin presenting staged readings in the SOPAC Loft in January, 2017 and the following year will produce at least two fully-staged productions on the mainstage. As SOPAC's theatre company in-residence, American Theater Group and SOPAC will co-present these theatrical offerings.

Historic Oakland Foundation Completes Major Restoration of Oakland Cemetery

Historic Oakland Foundation is celebrating completion of a major restoration project at the 163-year-old Oakland Cemetery. The restoration included repairs to 42 mausoleums, known as the crown jewels of Oakland, many of which are more than 100 years old.
Scientific Games Signs Rhode Island Lottery Instant Ticket Printing Services Contract

NEW YORK, July 31, 2013 - Scientific Games Corporation (SGMS) today announced that the Company has signed a contract with the Rhode Island Lottery to serve as the sole supplier of instant ticket printing services.  The Company was selected following a competitive procurement process.  The three-year contract, which began on July 1, 2013, includes options for the Lottery to extend the contract for five additional one-year periods.  Revenue to Scientific Games will continue to be based on a price per thousand tickets basis.
