Hillbarn Theatre Closes Out 2017-18 Season with SISTER ACT
Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, closes out its 2016-17 season with the Peninsula premiere of the five-time Tony Award-nominated musical smash, Sister Act. Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, this feel-good musical comedy centers around wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier who, after witnessing a crime, is put into witness protection in the least likely of places-a convent. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Featuring original music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, School of Rock, Love Never Dies), this uplifting musical is filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story about the universal power of friendship.

Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins follows the story of young Jane and Michael who have sent many nannies packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of common sense - and a little bit of magic - she teaches the family members how to value each other again. This delightful musical features favorite Mary Poppins tunes including 'A Spoonful of Sugar,' 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,' 'Jolly Holiday,' 'Let's Go Fly a Kite,' 'Step in Time,' and 'Chim Chiminey.'

BWW Reviews: WHITE CHRISTMAS a Happy Holiday at Hillbarn
Pierce Peter Brandt and Jim Ambler lead the energy and talent of Hillbarn Theatre's White Christmas. The two equity actors give great character and Broadway-quality vocals to song and dance partners Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. Behind them, an ensemble provides perfect harmonies attuned to the show's 1950's era. And although the scenic design remains simple throughout, a grand finale features Kuo-Hai Lo's gorgeous mountain background and an audience surprise that we won't spoil here.
