BWW Review: THE CRACKWALKER is Heavy and Emotionally-Rooted
anadian playwright and director Judith Thompson reimagines THE CRACKWALKER as the final piece of Factory Theatre's Naked Season - which might be its most ambitious yet. Starring Claire Armstrong, Yolanda Bonnell, Waawaate Fobister, Greg Gale and Stephen Joffe, the drama brings to life the haunting and fragile reality of mental illness and domestic violence. Set against a backdrop of hopelessness and despair, THE CRACKWALKER is a heavy and emotionally-rooted tale that is just as relevant as it was decades ago.
BWW Interview: Actress/Producer Sarah Booth Talks BLACKBIRD
Montreal actress/producer Sarah Booth's Toronto debut in the searing, smash indie hit 'Blackbird' is an overnight hit three years in the making. Calling her and her partner David Ferry's performances 'remarkable,' the Toronto Star critic raved 'A must see. Catch it while you can.' 'A heart-stopping production,' opined the Globe and Mail's J. Kelly Nestruck. Martin Morrow for the Torontoist called it 'electrifying.' '(A) gripping, explosive production of an unsettling play,' wrote Lynn Slotkin in her review posted on The Slotkin Letter.
Tomorrow Night, Wed., Dec. 31/14 CBC-TV Air Farce New Year's Eve Special
New Year's Eve is a retrospective time when we take a break and glance back at special memories. CBC-TV's Air Farce's New Year's Eve special is no exception with its current affairs jokes, like this one from the recent past: What does Justin Bieber have in common with Times Square in New York on New Year's Eve?
BWW Exclusive: Wendell Ferguson isn't a Grinch, Just a Very Naughty Boy on 'Cranky Christmas'
Singer-guitarist Wendell Ferguson is the anti-Claus. And I was reminded how much I enjoy his Yuletied parodies earlier this month at the CBC taping of this year's Royal Canadian Air Farce New Year's Eve comedy special. Remember the kid in the horror movie 'The Omen' who turns out to be the anti-Christ? Gregory Peck checked the lad's scalp and found three sixes - the sign of the beast - in a circle? Well, if you were to check Wendell's scalp, you'd find three 'Hos' in a circle instead!
