Palo Alto Players to Stage TARZAN This September
Palo Alto Players swings into its 2018-19 season with TARZAN, the action-packed musical adventure based on the Disney animated film and classic novel, Tarzan of the Apes. Written by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterly, Chinglish) and featuring a score from Grammy Award-winner Phil Collins, TARZAN is the moving story of the human child, who grows up among the gorillas in the West African rainforest.

Palo Alto Players opens its 2017-18 season with the South Bay regional premiere of Million Dollar Quartet, the high voltage Broadway musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night of musical magic. Million Dollar Quartet is directed by Jeffrey Bracco, musically directed by Katie Coleman, and features a cast of local Bay Area actors and musicians playing instruments live on stage as their iconic characters. Million Dollar Quartet runs September 15 - October 1 at the Lucie Stern Theater, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. For information or tickets, visit paplayers.org or call 650.329.0891.

Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre will give Bay Area audiences their first look at the 2014 revised version of the acclaimed Broadway musical Side Show. This dazzling work, featuring music by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), and book/lyrics by Bill Russell (Pageant, Lucky Duck), was nominated for four 1998 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress. The 2014 revival, which incorporates a revised script and several new songs, received additional critical acclaim, was nominated for five Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Revival, and was awarded the 2015 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Musical. Side Show is based on the true story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins who rose from a sideshow attraction to become sensational vaudeville stars in the 1930s. Side Show will be directed by Milissa Carey, with musical direction by Dolores Duran-Cefalu, and choreography by Brett and CJ Blankenship and will playMarch 2 - 19, 2017 (press opening: March 3, 2017) with performances 7:30pm Thursdays, 8:00pm Fridays & Saturdays, and 2pm Sundays at the Lohman Theatre, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.
