Gilda's LaughFest Begins To Roll Out Artists Announcements For 2022 Festival
Gilda’s LaughFest, presented by Gun Lake Casino, today announced some of the headliners participating during LaughFest’s festival, March 16-20. Additionally, Justin Willman, magician, comedian and creator of Netflix’s Magic for Humans, will perform during Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids’ 20th anniversary Red Door Gala on March 15.
Magic Theatre Celebrates the Life of Playwright-in-Residence Sam Shepard
Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright Sam Shepard passed away on Thursday, July 27 of complications from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Shepard spent a decade as playwright-in-residence at San Francisco's Magic Theatre, where he premiered his masterworks Buried Child (Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 1979), True West (1980), and Fool for Love (1983, starring Ed Harris and Kathy Baker). Shepard returned to Magic in 2000 to direct the world premiere of his new work The Late Henry Moss, starring Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, and Cheech Marin.

FOOL FOR LOVE at Magic Theatre Extends Through 3/5
Magic Theatre extends its legacy revival of Sam Shepard's award-winning drama Fool for Love until March 5th due to popular demand. The production was slated to close on February 26th, but five performances have been added to the end of the run after enthusiastic feedback from audiences and rave reviews in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and San Jose Mercury News.

American Conservatory Theater announced the casting today for David Mamet's brisk, cutting comedy on the movie business, Speed-the-Plow, directed by Loretta Greco. The cast features 2007 Drama Desk Award-nominee Andrew Polk, Matthew Del Negro ('The Sopranos'), and Jessi Campbell (A.C.T.'s Blackbird). Speed-the-Plow plays A.C.T. January 4 through February 3. Press night is Wednesday, January 9.
