The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall have announced their summer student performance will be the hit Broadway musical, Bye, Bye Birdie. To celebrate this announcement, the Murray Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall presents a showing of the classic movie, starring Janet Leigh and Dick Van Dyke, for one night only on Friday, June 9 at 7 pm. Masterworks Broadway will release a newly remastered version of Bye Bye Birdie - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, in conjunction with the film's 50th anniversary. Bye Bye Birdie opens a new chapter in the label's celebrated campaign to preserve the music of Broadway by entering the arena of film musical soundtracks. This new reissue of Bye Bye Birdie will include three bonus tracks and will be available on CD and via digital download January 8, 2013.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will premiere a new digital restoration of 'Bye Bye Birdie' on Wednesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hosted by film critic Stephen Farber, the evening will feature a Digital Cinema presentation with a newly restored 4-channel stereo soundtrack, followed by an onstage discussion with special guests Ann-Margret and Bobby Rydell.
