BWW Review: ACTUALLY Asks the Audience to Consider if Consent Was Given
There has been much revealed in legal proceedings relating to what actually constitutes consent when it comes to physical entanglements that somehow go incredibly wrong, thus resulting in a rape charge. Lives can be sidetracked and careers often destroyed upon a court or jurors ruling on who was at fault in such cases, even when the evidence seems too point in both directions. So how do you decide? Such in the case in the award-winning playwright Anna Ziegler's ACTUALLY, directed by Tyne Rafaeli at the Geffen Playhouse.

The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Jerry MacKinnon (Sleepy Hallow) and Samantha Ressler (This is the End) will star in award-winning playwright Anna Ziegler's Actually, a co-world premiere with the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Tyne Rafaeli will direct the Geffen's production which runs May 2, 2017 through June 11, 2017 in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse. Opening night is May 10, 2017.

Four hundred of Chicago's young arts supporters turned out for a high-energy evening of music, dancing, cocktails, impressive local cuisine and a silent auction at Steppenwolf Auxiliary Council's 2014 Red or White Ball on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Chicago's sleek, contemporary Venue One (1044 W Randolph St). The signature event for the city's most active young professionals raised nearly $60,000, benefiting Steppenwolf for Young Adults, the theater's nationally recognized arts education program, which annually impacts more than 12,000 students, teachers and families.
Steppenwolf for Young Adults to Present LEVELING UP, 2/26-3/15
When the game turns deadly, how will you play? Steppenwolf for Young Adults' 2013/14 season explores that question in Deborah Zoe Laufer's Millennial coming-of-age drama, Leveling Up. Hallie Gordon helms the production in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, featuring Carolyn Braver, Jerry MacKinnon, Clancy McCartney and JJ Phillips. Leveling Up runs February 26 - March 15, 2014; the press performance is on March 1 at 11am. Performances at 10am are reserved for school groups only; public performances are scheduled March 1 at 11am and March 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30pm.
