BIO

Jeremy Carver-James is a singer and actor known for his versatility of genres. Ranging primarily in Musical Theatre and Opera, he has performed in venues across North America including four seasons at the Shaw Festival. Most recent credits include Apollo's Manager in Rocky The Musical, Burt Healy in Annie, Subway Ghost in Ghost The Musical and Seaweed in Hairspray with Drayton Entertainment along with Donkey in Shrek with the Globe Theatre in Regina. Other theatre and opera credits include Judah in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and Richie in Red Rock Diner(Drayton Entertainment), Daddy Brubeck in Sweet Charity, The Next Whiskey Bar, Pygmalion, Cabaret, The Philadelphia Story, The Light in the Piazza, Guys and Dolls, and Ragtime (Shaw Festival), Pure ?90?s and 80s Solid Gold Part 2(Stage West), Naughty but Nice (Forte Musical Theatre Guild), Porgy and Bess (Opera de Montreal), Treemonisha(Nathaniel Dett Chorale), and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (ATP). Jeremy has been a soloist for a number of contemporary music ensembles including the Afro-centric choir the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. In the summer of 2011 he was a guest soloist for the Elvis A-Z concerts with Gregory Charles for the Festival Mondial Choral in Montreal,QC. He has also been featured as a gospel performer for the Italian tour of the Club Vocal du Coll ge Vocal de Laval, the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, the Alberta Honor Choir, and Festival 500 in Newfoundland. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Jeremy received his training from McGill University?s Schulich School of Music in Voice Performance.

The Shaw Festival Opens With RAGTIME

The Shaw Festival embarks on the first season of its next 50 years by proudly initiating a provocative conversation through the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime. Based on E.L. Doctorow's novel of the same name, Ragtime is directed by Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell and brought to life by The Shaw's renowned acting Ensemble. This powerful and complex story of a young America on the cusp of defining itself and the hopes and dreams of its citizens continues to gain resonance today. Surpassing all expectations, early tickets sales to the Shaw Festival's production of Ragtime are nearly 20% above projected totals, while early April and May ticket purchases for special matinees are already 80% sold out. Yesterday's preview performance of Ragtime received a standing ovation.
