Theatre Director and Former RSC Artistic Director Michael Boyd Dies
BroadwayWorld is saddened to learn that theatre director Michael Boyd has died from cancer. His career took him from training in Moscow to artistic directorships at the Tron Theatre Glasgow [1985-96] and the Royal Shakespeare Company, after joining as an Associate Director in 1996.

The 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out this evening to recipients in 15 categories, with four honorary awards also bestowed. The Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball hosted by stars of stage and screen: Kevin Cahoon (Tony nominee, 'Shucked'), D'Arcy Carden ('The Thanksgiving Play'), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Tony nominee, 'Ain't No Mo''), Bonnie Milligan (Tony nominee, 'Kimberly Akimbo'), Arian Moayed (Tony nominee, 'A Doll's House'), and Tamara Tunie (The New Group's 'Bernarda's Daughters'). The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by TDF.
Lucille Lortel Awards Change Eligibility Rules
The Off-Broadway League and the Lucille Lortel Theatre have changed the eligibility rules for the Lucille Lortel Awards. The Lortel Awards Administration Committee in collaboration with the Off-Broadway League Board of Directors has lowered the minimum seating capacity requirement of Lortel Award- eligible shows from 100 to 76.

With COVID safety in mind, rather than having one host and multiple presenters, this year the Awards will be handed out by a few Host/Presenter pairs on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at NYU Skirball beginning at 7:00pm EST. Recipients Announced For the 2020 Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation Fellowships
Established in 2018, the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation Fellowships is an annual fellowship program operated in partnership with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation, offering exceptional Bennington drama students the opportunity to work in paid internships at off-Broadway non-profit theatre companies during the College's winter Field Work Term. Participating students also receive mentorship and experience live theatre, immersing themselves in the New York City theatre world.
Season 3 Of BRASS Podcast to Feature New Northwest Cast Members
The ongoing alternate-history podcast BRASS premieres its third season this month.
