ADOLESCENCE Film Screening on Saturday, Featuring Music by John Driskell Hopkins

The Atlanta Underground Film Festival will be screening the new film, “ADOLESCENCE” on Saturday, August 17 at 4pm at the Synchronicity Theatre. The film, directed byAshley Avis, is about a teenager from an abusive household (Mickey River) who falls in love with a free-spirited runaway (India Eisley) that leads him into the fast-lane lifestyle of drugs and addiction which threatens to destroy him.

The team behind 2016's acclaimed production of Tennessee Williams' rarely-seen Kingdom of Earth, is back - this time, with Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. Jack Heller directs Susan Priver (down-on-her-luck showgirl Myrtle in Kingdom of Earth, LA Weekly award-winning The Lover by Harold Pinter) as Blanche DuBois and Max E. Williams (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., numerous productions with Elephant Theatre Company) as Stanley Kowalski in a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre presented by Dance On Productions in association with Linda Toliver and Gary Guidinger. Passions flare and cultures collide in the sultry streets of New Orleans beginning May 25, with performances continuing though July 7.

The Old Globe's Barefoot in the Park opened last Thursday and will extend again by popular demand, now running through Sunday, August 16. Director Jessica Stone (Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) returns to the Globe, extending the theatre's decades-long relationship with giant comic playwright Neil Simon with this fresh and hilarious new look at his 'bubbling, rib-tickling comedy' (The New York Times). Barefoot in the Park plays July 28 - September 16, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. BWW Review: Triumphant CD Release Concert FOR MY FOLKS by Jean Louisa Kelly

It baffles me when singers have a CD release party and then sing everything except the contents of the album. Even worse is not bothering to share with the audience the deep need to record it. And then they expect you to buy it! Go figure! Such was not the case at the Federal in NoHo for the solo concert debut of beautiful singer/actress Jean Louisa Kelly who literally sang the entire CD minus one song* and devoted the concert to her parents, husband and two children. Kelly is a joy to look at and has a wonderfully full and powerful vocal instrument that she uses to perfection. It doesn't hurt that all of your arrangements are composed by the brilliant Todd Schroeder who also served as musical director at the piano for the show that ran just under an hour at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal Sunday night October 22 to a packed house of adoring fans.
