Jenny P. Scott “JP” is a true renaissance woman. Actor, Singer, Writer, Musician, Designer; this Newark-Native artist has designed & performed throughout the community & around the world. A Fashion Design BFA from F.I.T. and AS in Music & Drama Performance; she founded J. Scota Designs to help celebrity artists & apparel brands create fashion products. Currently working for NBC Universal, her designs can be seen on CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” and on Kim Hawthorne of OWN’s “Greenleaf”, in The Newark IFF Award show, where she’s served as committee member and graphic designer.
JP has worked with Directors Ava DuVernay & Aisha Coley of the Academy Awarded film “Selma”; was a featured inmate on Orange Is The New Black; ranked her District’s #1 Public Speaker (Metro NJ; Rockland County; Staten Island) for (2) consecutive years; & has worked with B’way Directors Ian Weinberger, Kurt Crowley, Patrick Vassel, & Hannah Ryan of Hamilton The Musical in efforts to be cast as “Angelica Schuyler”.
She is the Director, Producer, Writer, & Editor of the documentary web series “Bare Souls”, which reveals the often unspoken artist experience (from trials to triumphs) via intimate conversations with artists of the Greater Newark Community and is currently writing a Musical about an artist who triumphs over an abusive childhood through artistic expression.
By combining song, spoken-word, art, media, & discussion, her mission is to serve the community of Newark by providing performance & design services that heal, empower, & transform lives.
